The Congo, with a population of over 65 million, does not have one plastic surgeon. There, people die regularly from even relatively simple burns. Currently, Rambam is training the first Congolese plastic surgeon to specialize in burn treatment.

The liver – which can regenerate itself – is a promising candidate for tissue implantation procedures.  At  Rambam, doctors from the Liver Disease Research Laboratory are exploring different ways of implanting cells to cure hepatic damage and disease.
